Drawing Tools [Tablet App]

Learn how to add text, lines, shapes and freeform drawings to your Surveys from the System Surveyor Tablet app.

Note: Drawing Tools are currently available on Tablet app & Web only, but will soon be available on the Phone app.

Access Drawing Tools

  • Open your Survey.

  • Tap the Drawing Tools button on the left-hand side bar.

  • This will display the Drawing Tools panel.

Area of Coverage Boundaries

Use the Boundaries tool to create walls or obstacles on your Survey to display an accurate Area of Coverage for your cameras, motion detectors & more. Learn more about Area of Coverage Boundaries here.

  • From the Drawing Tools panel, tap the dotted line button under Area of Coverage Boundaries.

  • Drag & drop Boundary lines onto your Survey in your desired location.

    • Any AoC on the Survey will respond to the Boundaries upon coming in contact with them.

Freeform Drawing

  • Tap the Pencil button under the Shapes section.

  • Select your desired line color & size.

  • Use your finger tip to draw on your Survey.

Add Text
  • Tap the A button under the Shapes section.
  • Select a color and font size.

  • Tap and drag on your survey to create a textbox.
  • Enter your desired text into the box.

  • Move the text box around the survey using the hand symbol.

Add Lines & Arrows

  • Tap the arrow button or line button under the Shapes section.
  • Select a color and line/arrow size.

  • Tap and drag the line or arrow on your Survey in the desired location.

Add Shapes

When adding squares or circles to your Survey, you will see additional options to add shading to the shape and adjust its opacity.

  • Tap the square or circle button under the Shapes section.
  • Choose between a solid shape or an outline.
  • Select a color and line size for the shape.
  • Choose an opacity.

  • Tap and drag the shape onto the Survey in your desired configuration & location.

Undo, Redo & Delete

The Undo, Redo, and Delete buttons can be applied to any of the Drawing Tools options within an editing session.

  • Undo/Redo: After placing a line, shape, drawing or text box, you can tap the Undo button to reverse that. Conversely, if you with to place the item back onto the Survey, you can tap Redo to accomplish this.
  • Delete: Tap the trash can button to remove a selected drawing from the Survey.

Return to Layout

Once you have finished editing with the Drawing Tools options, tap the Return to Layout button to return to normal Survey editing. This will need to be done if you wish to add more Elements to the Survey.

Note: Users must tap the Drawing Tools button to select and modify drawings previously added to the Survey.

Filter Drawing Tools

Drawing Tools can be filtered out of the Survey with the Filters menu.

  • Tap the Filter button in the upper left corner of the Edit screen.

    • Deselect the Boundaries option to filter out Boundaries from the Survey.

Note: This will not remove the effect that the Boundaries have on the AoCs for your Elements - it will simply remove the Boundary lines themselves from view.

    • Deselect the Drawings option to filter out shapes, lines, or text from the Survey
